First round of vaccination to be completed by 12 February, 2021
CHANDIGARH: Front line warriors from all Government departments to be administered the corona vaccination in the next phase including Health Care Workers of Govt. and Private health facilities who already got the first dose of vaccination in the first phase.
Disclosing this here today, the Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu said that Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government started COVID-19 vaccination drive from January 16, 2021 under which about 1,78,000 HCWs (Health Care Workers) have been given an opportunity for free of cost vaccination. He said that so far about 1800 sessions have been held in Punjab with vaccination of nearly 58,000 HCWs.
Sidhu divulged that the remaining ones will again be offered the opportunity for vaccination. All those HCWs who are willing to get vaccinated must get done by 12 February.
The Health Minister further said that after the 12 February, the first dose of vaccination will not be available to HCWs and in the second round, only a second dose of vaccination will be provided for HCWs. So all remaining eligible HCW must get vaccinated to ensure their safety and that of their family members. Moreover, the vaccination of Front Line Workers of all departments will also start from next week which includes Police, Home Guard, Disaster Management volunteers, Civil Defence and Prison staff as well as staff of Municipal Commissions and revenue staff from state Government agencies. From central agencies the FLW include CRPF, BSF, ITBP, CISF, NDRF etc.
