FIFA players who opened their hard-earned FUT Champions rewards on Thursday were in for a nasty surprise, amid ongoing issues with Player Picks.
The FUT Champions Weekend League is the most challenging competition in FIFA Ultimate Team, with the weekly tournament held every weekend starting on Friday mornings at 7am GMT UK time, and ending on Monday mornings at at 7am GMT UK time, as are players able to play a maximum of 30 games between those times on each console or PC.
The rules for the FUT Champs Weekend League competition are simple, the more games you win, the better your rewards will be. Rewards include coins, packs, player picks and more.

Any players who competed in last weekend’s FIFA 21 Ultimate Team FUT Champions competition will have received their rewards at 8am GMT UK time this morning (Thursday), if they have completed the minimum 5 matches that were required to be ranked.
But there is an ongoing issue with Player Picks currently, with FUT players currently getting random rare gold players, rather than the red FUT Champions cards, which should feature players from the FIFA 21 TOTW 18 lineup that was released on Wednesday.
In-form items of players like Neymar, Bernardo Silva, Karim Benzema, Frenkie de Jong, Nick Pope and James Maddision should all be included in the player picks reward, as they were included in TOTW 18, but it appears that they’re not.
EA SPORTS tweeted from their official @EAFIFADirect Twitter account this morning, confirming that there was an ongoing issue with FUT Champions rewards.
“We’re aware of the issue with the latest FUT Champions rewards and the team are currently working on a fix.”
But a short time later, the @EAHelp Twitter account provided an important update regarding the issue.
“The issue with FUT Champions rewards is now resolved; Everyone who opens their rewards after 9:18 AM GMT will not have the same issue.
“The game team will issue correct rewards for affected players who opened their packs before 9:18AM GMT.
“Thanks for your patience.”
(UPDATE January 28 at 9:22pm GMT) As for players who have already opened their FUT Champions rewards and subsequent broken Player Picks rewards, EA have offered an update and say that a process is ongoing. Here is the latest.
“We are in the process of correcting FUT Champions Player Pick rewards for players who received incorrect Items and further updates will be posted in this thread when they become available.”
If there are any further updates, we will update this article accordingly, but keep an eye on that tweet thread above for further updates.
